Wayne Dyer was born in 1940 in Detroit, Michigan. His early life was quite challenging; after his alcoholic father abandoned him, he spent his early life living in foster homes and orphanages. Dyer joined the Navy and served for four years.
He then began college, eventually earning his doctoral degree in counseling from Wayne State University, and taught at St. John's University New York before becoming a full-time author.
The evolution of Wayne Dyer's philosophy is reflected by the variety of books he has written over the years.
Your Erroneous Zones, Dyer's first book, contained basic psychological advice. Later, spirituality became the focus in You’ll see it when you believe it, where faith and forgiveness are predominant.
Today his teachings emphasize spirituality, and encourage readers to connect to their inner self, as demonstrated in Inspiration, your Ultimate Calling.
Manifestation techniques are taught in Manifest your Destiny.
He has 8 children, and now lives in Maui.
