A licensed professional counselor, Marcia is also an expressive arts therapist, speaker, musician, author and devoted mother. She brings 20 years of experience to her work as a psychotherapist, utilizing tools that address the spirit, mind, body and heart.
After having taken the path of least resistance in her 20's, attending a traditional university and emerging with a master's degree in French literature, she found herself in a quandary. She had a degree and no desire to use it! She taught French for awhile, and then spent years trying on different jobs unrelated to her degree.
Satisfying her spirit for adventure, Marcia went to live and work in Japan for a year and was able to hear her soul's calling. When she returned to the states, she attended a non-traditional university, Naropa Institute in Boulder, Colorado where she began to learn about her inner landscape and how to use the expressive arts therapies, such as movement, music, art and psychodrama to assist others in their explorations.
Having been touched personally by cancer through the illness of close family members, Marcia had the desire to work with cancer survivors. She received grants to present her 8-week program of expressive arts work with breast cancer survivors. She continues to provide consulting to various cancer-related organizations.
Having faciliated a pet-loss group in Tucson for many years, she realized that many people were unable to attend these groups and get the support they desperately needed. She made a pet loss video to assist those going through the devastating loss of an animal companion.
